Message this issue. I personally would try to salvage as much of the original system as possible -- just reduces the amount of work.

If the headlamp relays look to be working fine (ie., activating the cabin controls causes them to click) -- I'd think about trying to use them as part of the new circuit. If the control signal for the relays is working use that circuit connection to activate a replacement relay.

Basic two things you'll need to plan out this project is the car's circuit diagram and a digital voltmeter. Once you've determined which part of the car's lighting circuit isn't working - add the new circuit to replace it...

Do your parking lights work? That would be another way to get headlights ON. Wire a relay into one of the parking lights and when they go on so would the lo beam lamps. Not exactly OEM tho...
